A Very Hot Morning

This morning, Ron and I met over at Bonnie's house to help her cut up a tree that had fallen on the edge of her yard. I knew it was going to be a hot day today, when I left my house at 7:00 and it was already 77 degrees and a light rain was falling....which just made the humidity even worse.

But by 11:00, we had the tree cut down, sliced up, and the branches hauled out of sight.

Needless to say, we were filthy!

We took advantage of Bonnie's showers and headed over to the swimming pool next door for a quick dip, then grilled some burgers.

By 2:00, we were all pretty tired out! It doesn't take much outdoor labor to really zap your energy in this heat!

Welcome?

Nothing says "WELCOME" quite like a huge fence surrounding your home! I saw this place on the side of the road as I traveled today and had to pull over and take a photo. Quite the contrast in ideas!

I wonder if the fence is to keep people out or in?

Scenic Sunday - The Garden

Mom and Dad's garden last year was great one! This year, they scaled it back a little, but not much. No corn this year, but they added potatos, asparagus, and lettuce.

Turkey Creek

Here are a few photos from Saturday's paddle on Turkey Creek. The water was crystal clear and running fast. The creek ranged from 10 feet to 20 feet wide, and was very twisty and turny. It took a lot of quick paddling to keep out of the bushes! Click to enlarge, then use your BACK button to return and select another photo.

Off to go paddling

I am off for a few days to paddle a few of the rivers in the Florida panhandle. Most of them are on Eglin Air Force Base, so there is no development along their banks. Here is a shot that Michel has on her website of the one we are paddling on Saturday...Turkey Creek. It is a very shallow, very clear stream with a beautiful white sand bottom. I will be staying at Michel and John's second home, for which I am very thankful.

An Elvis Spotting

Once you click on this image, taken at the Folkschool's kitchen, you may just be able to see where the King has been hiding out.

Yes, that's right.....Elvis is doing the dishes at the Folkschool

Pretty Cat on the Ugly Stool

Here is Callie, seated upon her throne.

Ok, so it is just the really ugly green and purple stool that I used to have in my classroom...but Callie has recently claimed it as her personal throne and dares you to try to get her off of it.

Besides, I think she likes the colors!

Ghostly Deer

Here is something that you just do not see very often in the wild, a white deer.

Bonnie caught this one on Cumberland Island just before sunset recently.

Were the mosquitos bad?

Here is how you can tell if the mosquitos were bad...
