Granny's passing

This past week, I lost my maternal grandmother....Granny, as we all called her. Although during the last few years, dementia stripped her of much of the joy that she so justly deserved, she did have a few minutes of right mind during her last day in the hospital, and so the family members present were able to have some closure.

Below are some photos of her as a child, a young lady, and then with my mother as an infant, and with my mom and aunt when they were kids. Click on the small photos to see the larger version of it.

Plane lands on highway

A sort of odd thing happened today...a small airplane made an emergency landing on the interstate highway here in town. The aircraft lost the engine, belly-flopped and skidded to a stop without anyone getting hurt. The plane did suffer damage and took out a guard rail.

New Kitty

I have a new cat! Her name is Callie....a total love cat.

cheap gas

Well, it took several years, but I have finally paid less than $2 per gallon for gasoline! I got it for $1.96 today. No telling how long the lower prices will last, but it certainly beats $3.
