Neighbors

I am not really quite sure what makes some people decide to remove all of the trees from their property. Sure, it does eliminate the chore of raking leaves in the fall; but the benefits of shade and wildlife would out weigh the hassle...or so it would seem to me.

My next door neighbor must not feel the same as I do. She has hired a group to come in and remove most all of the trees from their yard. As I type this, the chainsaws are whining and the limbs are coming down.

For some of the bigger pecan trees that are near the buildings, she has hired a crane that will support the branches as the are cut out...one by one...out of the top of the tree.

Given our warm climate here, I wouldn't lose my trees for anything. Sure, they can be a bother. And once in a blue moon, a big limb or even a tree might come down....but still worth it to me.

To be, or not to be....Unitary in the question.

The local school board has been under the watchful eye of the feds for the past forty years or so due to a ruling concerning desegregation of black and white students. The school board is now pushing their freedom....to be granted a unitary status.

Yesterday, the judge heard a lot of testimony and public comments about it. The result....nothing for now. Maybe in a month or two.

I know....what a surprise! A slow decision being made in Macon.

Free Viagra has unexpected side effect

BRASILIA, Brazil (Reuters) -- The mayor of a small Brazilian town has begun handing out free Viagra, spicing up the sex lives of dozens of elderly men and their partners.

"Since we started the free distribution of sexual stimulants, our elderly population changed. They're much happier," said Joao de Souza Luz, the mayor of Novo Santo Antonio, a small town in the central state of Mato Grosso.

Souza Luz said 68 men over the age of 60 already had signed up for the program, which was approved by the town's legislature and has been dubbed "Happy Penis," or "Pinto Alegre" in Portuguese.

But the program also has had the unforeseen consequence of encouraging some extramarital affairs, Souza Luz said.

"Some of the old men aren't seeking out their wives. They've got romances on the side," he said.
