Well, I broke down and bought another computer. I never realized that there was sooooo much stuff that I would want to load, plus I haven't even started yet on my photos and so forth. I am thinking that I once I get everything copied to CD on my old computer that I want to save, I am going to harvest the disk drive out of it and install it into my new computer. I will use the old disk drive for a backup drive.
Of course that is assuming that I can get everything copied and so forth. Looks like a project for Sunday afternoon!
A collection of events-of-the-day, random thoughts, observations, photos, and/or reflective moments which may or may not make any sense or be entertaining.

Missed the Photo Walk
As luck would have it, I missed the Worldwide Photo Walk here in Macon yesterday. Truthfully, I didn't hear about it until it was over, which is a bummer as that I really didn't do anything that important yesterday and could have easily join in on the fun.
The Worldwide Photo Walk is an annual event that takes place on the same day in hundreds of cities around the world. From what I gather, people snap photos and send them into the website, where they are posted and judged for prizes and such. Sounds like it would be a lot of fun, and a great chance to meet other area photographers too. Oh well, maybe next year.
Here is a shot from downtown Macon...one that I took a few months back of the old street lights on Cotton Avenue, it might be a repeat posting, can't recall.

PhotoHunt - Rocks
PhotoHunt's theme this Saturday is "ROCKS"....so I decided to post the rocks at one of my favorite places to visit, Falls Creek Falls State Park.
This giant hole in the ground is a result of eons of the water going over the limestone rocks. The waterfall currently is a 256 foot drop!

Who's Your Daddy?
Here is a peek inside the nest of a pair of Eastern Towhees that have set up house in the bushes outside my bathroom window.
They are raising some other type of baby bird though. As you can see, their two eggs are much smaller than the baby that has already hatched out. Some birds do lay their eggs into other bird's nests, so they do not have to raise the chicks themselves. I am guessing that this is the case.
Below is a video of the adult male singing. As you can see, the shape of the beak on the adult is very different from this chick's.

Cool Tunes on a Hot Day
Recently, I got to hear a couple of great local musicians while they were doing a street performance downtown. In this case, it was Joey Stuckey.
Joey is a blind artist who plays a wide variety of music styles on his guitar. On this date, he was joined by a little bit of smooth sax.
Their cool tunes definitely made the hot day a lot more tolerable!

Tired Kitty
Callie and I spent the full morning playing today. She took full advantage of me being home to spend a few hours playing hard. We played hide-and-seek, chase the string, fight with the straw, and tickle my belly....all are favorite games for her.
So now, she is wore out and ready for a nap. And to be honest, so am I, especially after I just ate a big bowl of Parmesan Couscous with mushrooms and green peas.

Sick as a dog
I hate having a cold. But I really hate getting a cold during the summer.
Too bad, because I got one...a real doozie of one at that.
Sneeze, sneeze, sniffle, sniffle.

Chicken ..... Yum!
Chicken is what I had on my mind last night....in particular, fried chicken.
I don't actually fry my chicken very often, but was just in the mood for that crispy, crunchy, tasty coating.
I soaked a few chicken legs in a mix of eggs and Bacon Ranch salad dressings. Then dredged them in flour, salt, pepper, and a cajun spice mix.
After a trip through the hot oil, they were devoured and enjoyed!
Naturally, I did make a huge mess with the flour and oil spatters, but it was so worth it!

Ugly Carpet
I am not going to say that the new carpet that was installed in the new Ingram-Pye Elementary school is the ugliest carpet in the world, but possibly is the worst in Bibb County.
Yes, every classroom has at least 4 different colors in the carpet, including at least one with stripes!
And don't get me started on the rainbow of colors on the walls!

Swimming Party
Yesterday's pool party at Tom and Holly's was a lot of fun. There were about 12 people there or so. We swam, grilled, and munched our way
into happiness.
After supper, we were all surprised at how quickly it cooled off, for a change. We were actually able to enjoy sitting around a campfire till well into the evening.
One odd thing that happened, a whirlwind suddenly came up and launched my two sun shelters into the air. They twirled about like dead leaves in the wind, rising up about 25 or 30 feet into the air, crashed down for a moment onto some chairs, then took back off, soaring into a fence. It ripped both of the tops and bent the frame a bit, but I think at least one is salvageable. It was so odd, because we were in the pool at the time, and there was absolutely no wind only a few feet away from the shelters!

More odd thoughts from Bill Elder
Wow! I just looked at my count and this is post #500 on my blog! You would think that this would be some kind of major milestone that is worthy of a fabulous posting....hmmm, well it should be, but instead, you are only getting a few more odd thoughts from my bud, Bill Elder. Not to say that his thoughts aren't fabulous!

$7 down the drain
Few things irk me more than to waste money.
Tonight, I stopped by the grocery store to buy a few things for the weekend....including some hotdogs for a picnic on the 4th. I get home and guess what is missing from my shopping bags. 2 packs of hotdogs and a few other refrigerator items.
That is why I hate going to these "let us bag it for you" places.
